War Dept releases UAP files citing 1,800 mph black triangles over secret bases

WASHINGTON, October 23, 2026 — The Department of War has released a new tranche of declassified files detailing sightings of black triangular objects moving at 1,800 mph over secret US military bases. The documents, released Friday, confirm that these unidentified anomalous phenomena were observed on at least three occasions without generating vapor trails or audible noise.

The release marks the seventh batch of files made public under the Trump Administration’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters initiative. While the files confirm high-speed movements and unusual physical characteristics, they do not provide definitive proof of extraterrestrial life. The records focus on the technical anomalies reported by observers and the subsequent government assessments of the objects’ origins.

Technical Anomalies in the Record

The core of the new disclosure centers on the physics of the observed objects. According to an FBI report included in the files, the triangles were observed moving at a rate of 1.5 miles in three seconds. This equates to a speed of 1,800 mph, a velocity that observers described as being as fast as a fighter jet. The speed is significant because it exceeds the capabilities of many current aerial platforms, yet the objects left no contrail or exhaust plume.

The detail that matters here is the thermal signature. Observers using thermal scanning devices noted that the objects gave off a consistent heat signal across their entire surface. This stands in contrast to conventional aircraft or drones, which typically register higher heat signals around specific points such as engines or exhaust outlets. The uniformity of the heat signature suggests a power source or heat distribution mechanism that does not align with known propulsion technologies.

A Department of War memo provided a precise technical description of the exterior. The object presented as a continuous, featureless surface. The memo explicitly noted the lack of discernible structural discontinuities, propulsive apertures, intake structures, aerodynamic control effectors, or cockpit features. For a defense analyst, the absence of visible control surfaces at such high speeds is the primary technical puzzle. The government has ruled out the possibility that the objects were American technology.

Skepticism on Foreign Origins

With US technology ruled out, the logical next step in the assessment process is to consider foreign state actors. However, the files reveal a degree of skepticism regarding this hypothesis. Government officials noted that there are no known countries with the advanced technical capabilities required to build such objects. The lack of known foreign counterparts leaves the origin of the triangles unverified in the current record.

The sightings occurred over top-secret sites where the US government tests new technology, which raised immediate national security concerns. The exact locations and dates of the sightings were redacted from the public release for security reasons. The absence of visual confirmation remains a gap in the documentation, forcing reliance on witness testimony and sensor data.

Skinwalker Ranch and Historical Context

Beyond the high-speed triangles, the release includes documents related to the 512-acre Skinwalker Ranch in Utah. The ranch is widely known as a hotspot for reported paranormal activity. The files reveal that the government collected hair samples from the property in 2010. A rancher reported that a skinwalker was spotted on the property, and his dogs chased it through a barbed-wire fence. The hair was collected from the wire and underwent DNA analysis.

Witnesses on the property described seeing a “black shadowy figure.” Other reports included “dog-like creatures running on two legs,” unnatural animalistic howling, and a maggot measuring about eight feet long. In Navajo culture, a skinwalker is a malevolent witch that can disguise itself as an animal. As of May 2010, officials had interviewed at least 25 people regarding these encounters. The group included Native Americans in the region, local police, ranchers, members of the Mormon church, and the director of the local Fish and Wildlife service. All interviewees described first-hand encounters.

The two primary witnesses to the triangle sightings reported no physiological effects. The memo noted there were no reports of disorientation, nausea, headaches, memory gaps, or other anomalous sensory phenomena. This lack of biological impact is a notable point in the medical assessment of the witnesses, distinguishing these encounters from reports that often include such symptoms.

Broader Scope of the Release

The seventh tranche of files is part of a broader effort to increase transparency regarding unidentified phenomena. The release also contains documents on unidentified sightings around California’s Catalina Island. Additionally, the files include a NASA document from the 1960s offering guidance on what personnel should do if they come into contact with space fragments. This historical document provides context on how the US space agency approached the possibility of encountering non-terrestrial or unknown materials decades ago.

As ever, the distinction between what is recorded and what is inferred remains clear. The documents show specific measurements, thermal readings, and witness accounts. They do not confirm the existence of alien life. The technical reality is that the objects exhibited capabilities that current known technology cannot easily explain, leading to the ongoing review and declassification process. More files are expected to be released in the future, but for now, the record stands on the data provided in this latest batch.
