FBI Photo B2 Reveals Military Clock Was Not Set

A declassified FBI document titled Photo B2 with redactions and a narrative description of a military sensor image

Western United States, January 1, 2025 — cybernewschronicle.com — The newly declassified document known as “FBI Photo B2” landed in the public domain on May 8, 2026, as part of the U.S. Department of War’s PURSUE archive. But the image it describes is older. It was captured by a U.S. military system in the Western United States during late 2025.

The date stamped on that image is wrong. The system’s clock was not set.

That detail, buried in the FBI’s own summary, tells you something about the machinery involved. These are not pristine, calibrated instruments used by trained photographers. They are military sensors, likely mounted on an aircraft or a ground-based platform, operated by someone whose primary job was not taking pictures of the sky.

The operator reported being unable to positively identify the object. The FBI document provides no name for that operator.

It provides no mission report at all. The PURSUE archive itself is the context that matters here. It is a declassification initiative run by the Department of War, a sprawling effort to push previously restricted records into public view.

The FBI’s role in this specific case is limited. The bureau received a photographic image from a military system, applied redactions, and transferred an altered version to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, or AARO. That is the chain of custody.

The original image, unredacted, is not in this document. The narrative description provided by the FBI is the only government account of what that image shows.

What does it show? A monochrome frame, grainy texture, a central crosshair reticle. In the upper right quadrant, a small, dark, circular object.

The background is indistinct — possibly a mountain range, possibly a cloud formation. The FBI is explicit that this description is not an analytical judgment.

It is not an investigative conclusion. It is not a factual determination about the event’s validity, nature, or significance. The bureau wrote those words for a reason.

They do not want anyone treating this as a confirmed sighting. The object itself remains unidentified. That is the only label that applies.

The U.S. government has an official office — AARO — tasked with looking into these things, and this image was sent there. But the document released to the public is a curated artifact.

Redactions were applied before the transfer. The date is wrong. The mission report is missing.

The public is left with a single grainy still and a disclaimer. This is not an isolated release.

The PURSUE archive has been producing documents like this for months. Each one arrives with its own set of caveats, its own missing pieces. The pattern is consistent: a record surfaces, it describes something anomalous, and the official description hedges every claim.

The “FBI Photo B2” document fits that pattern exactly. It gives the public something to look at, but not something to conclude from. The Western United States is a large area.

Late 2025 is a narrow window. The system that captured the image is not named in the document.

The operator is not named. The original image is not shown. What remains is a bureaucratic trace — a piece of paper that says a photograph existed, that it showed something dark and circular, and that nobody could say what it was.

That is the story here. Not the object itself.

The record of the object. The government’s handling of its own data. The decision to release a version with redactions, a description with disclaimers, a date that is known to be wrong.

The PURSUE archive is producing transparency, but it is producing it in fragments. This document is one of those fragments. It tells you that something was seen.

It does not tell you what it was. It does not tell you where exactly it was seen.

It does not tell you who saw it. It tells you that the government has a system for handling these reports, and that the system produced this document.
