2023 Western US UAP event AARO

WASHINGTON, June 12 — The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) has provided new information regarding a still-unresolved case of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) that occurred in the Western United States in October 2023. The incident, which spanned two days, remains under active investigation as of June 2026, according to a newly released memorandum summarizing the office’s ongoing analysis.

The events reportedly took place in the vicinity of a sensitive national security location in the Western United States. Multiple individuals, including three U.S. federal law enforcement special agents identified as Witness 1, Witness 2, and Witness 3, provided firsthand accounts of observing the phenomena over the two-day period. The AARO has collected these witness statements along with digital recreations of the sightings.

As part of its latest disclosure, the AARO released two visual materials related to the case. One image is described as a notional representation showing four separate incidents involving UAP in the Western United States, depicted from an overhead perspective.

The other image is characterized as an artistic interpretation, illustrating the reported encounter near the sensitive national security site that unfolded over the two days in October 2023. The case remains unresolved, with the AARO continuing its investigation. The involvement of multiple federal law enforcement special agents as witnesses adds a layer of complexity to the analysis, according to the memorandum. The office has not yet reached a definitive conclusion about the nature or origin of the observed phenomena.

This release offers a window into the ongoing work of the AARO, which was established to coordinate efforts across the U.S. government to detect, identify, and attribute objects of interest in the air, sea, and space domains. The office has been tasked with investigating reports of UAP and providing regular updates to Congress and the public.

As the investigation proceeds, further details may emerge that could help clarify what witnesses reported seeing. The AARO’s continued examination of this incident, along with other UAP cases, may contribute to a broader understanding of these phenomena and their potential implications. Observers will be watching for any subsequent announcements from the office regarding this case or other unresolved reports from the region.
