FBI Photo B17 Shows Wrong Date, Military System Never Set

FBI Photo B17 Released with Incorrect Timestamp

The FBI document labeled “FBI Photo B17” was made public by the U.S. Department of War through the PURSUE archive on May 8, 2026. The release notes that the date and time stamp embedded in the image are inaccurate because the military system that produced the photograph never had its clock set.

The picture itself is a still frame taken from a U.S. military system and was forwarded to the All‑domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) in late 2025. Because the internal clock was never configured, the metadata cannot be used to establish an exact date for the capture. The operator who acquired the image reported seeing two small, dark, circular objects positioned near the centre of the monochrome, grainy frame.

A simplified crosshair appears in the middle of the picture, suggesting a targeting or tracking display. No mission report accompanied the submission, and the operator stated that they could not positively identify the unidentified anomalous phenomenon.

The document supplies only minimal contextual information. The location is described broadly as the Western United States. Prior to reaching AARO, the image underwent redactions.

The accompanying narrative description carries a explicit warning: it is offered for informational purposes only and should not be interpreted as an analytical judgment, investigative conclusion, or factual determination concerning the event’s validity, nature, or significance. This caveat is inserted by the government itself.

From the released material the following facts are known: a still image exists; it originated from a U.S. military system; it was redacted before being sent to AARO; the system’s clock was never set; the observer saw two dark circles; no mission report was filed; the location remains vague; the observer could not identify the objects. The release is part of a broader declassification initiative. The administration of former President Donald Trump began the process of divulging UFO‑related records on May 8, 2026.

According to a Wikipedia summary of the United States UFO files, further disclosures are anticipated as a series of repeated, ongoing, and expanding releases. FBI Photo B17 constitutes the first public document in that sequence.

The image is not a video or a radar return; it is a single still from a military sensor. The central crosshair implies a targeting or tracking function, while the two dark circles are small and sit close to the frame’s centre. No analytical assessment has been made by the FBI or any other agency regarding the identity of the objects, and the document explicitly states that no such judgment exists.

Because the Western United States covers a large area, the absence of a precise date, a specific location, and a supporting mission report leaves the photograph detached from any concrete context. The operator’s inability to identify the circles is presented as a statement of fact, not as a conclusion about what they might be.

The file is titled “FBI Photo B17” and is distributed as a PDF approximately 0.1 megabyte in size. Some web browsers cannot display the PDF directly; users are advised to download the document to view it. This release represents the initial glimpse of the material the government has opted to make public.

The photograph is grainy, its timestamp is erroneous, its location is nonspecific, and the observer could not identify the two dark circles. No mission report accompanied the submission, and the document’s warning cautions against drawing conclusions from its narrative description.

That sums up the current state of the evidence. The larger declassification effort is expected to continue, with additional records projected to emerge. At present, FBI Photo B17, with its faulty timestamp and solitary grainy frame, serves as the opening move in that process.

The government has not disclosed what further records will be released or when they might appear. For now, the public record consists of one image, two dark circles, and a system clock that was never set.
